“ART IRL” Satellite Gallery 2019

“ART IRL” was a group exhibition and gig curated by Kathy Sarpi in March 2019. Joined by visual artists Andrew Onorato and Glynn Urquhart, the exhibition consisted on paintings, digital works, sculptures, video pieces and interactive works involving images about the absurdity of the online world. Kathy produced 15 intricately detailed watercolour paintings of dolphins referenced from various stock-image sites with fictitious watermarks and hyperlinks, whilst Andrew Onorato created a large scale acrylic painting of an Ubereats order of an Aussie Pizza with tropical toppings. The exhibition was playful and aimed to challenge audiences to think critically about how “good art” is perceived, how popular culture is manifested and what it is comprised of.
